To say that I LOVE Disneyland may just be a SLIGHT understatement!  It’s not that I like crowds, over priced food, and lines . . . it’s that I LOVE the look on the faces of my kids when we pull up!  It’s priceless!  When I was a kid we went once, maybe twice, a year and we would get there when the park opened and shuffle to the car after the park had closed.  Some of my fondest childhood memories take place at Disneyland . . . every trip would end with my mom and I searching for the perfect figurine to add to my collection.  And then . . . I grew up and a new group of kiddos joined the family . . . I can remember being there when my nieces (now 19) went for the first time . . . the joy on their face was PRICELESS!!!  I LOVE that look!  The look of awe, pure joy . . . the sweet look of  [c h I l d h o o d]!  So . . . I certainly take my older girls out of school plenty and head down to Disney, but sometimes it’s fun to just get away with the little one!  And that’s JUST what we did . . . off to Disneyland/California Adventure we went on Wednesday . . . actually brought the [BIG] camera and documented the day!

Seriously, this salad is AHHHHH MAZING!!!!!

I find it at Costco and Smart & Final (about $4.49/bag)!
It has EVERYTHING you need . . . the greens, dressing, dried cranberries, and pumpkin seeds!!!
I like to add some rotisserie chicken ($4.99 at costco). 
I can get about 3-4 lunches out of this bag if I eat it by myself!

My Styled Shoot is Being Featured!!! | Newhall Mansion

A couple of months ago I stumbled across the magnificent Newhall Mansion in Piru, California . . . about 15 minutes away from my house . . . as soon as I saw it I KNEW I had to do something there . . . my photographer brain cells were popping with a million ideas!!! I’ll do a full post very soon, but for now the shoot has been featured on the Jess Collective blog and I couldn’t be MORE thrilled!!!!  I feel a little like I’m giving my Academy Awards speech, but I really am so thankful for all of the AMAZING vendors who gave of their time and talent to make this shoot a reality.  My partner in crime for all things creative, the AMAZING, Kelly Meyer of Kelly Meyer Events is to be highly praised!!! I love her to death and so thankful for her!!!!

Back to School Sessions

In gearing up for my 2nd annual Back to School sessions I did a little trial run!  I love that I have these amazingly creative friends who take ideas and run with them!!!  My sweet friend, Sarah, put this vignette together and she’s working on another one (it involves a bale of hay!!!) for the actual sessions!!!  I LOVE this little school desk, but I DON’T love that my girlies are getting older!!!  Honestly, I really hate that!!!  Well . . . except that they are getting more and more fun!  Ok . . .it’s a LOVE-HATE relationship I have with them getting older.  Anyways, here are a few from our trial run.  Super cute subjects . . . if you ask me!!!

Last year I decided that the dorky backdrops were just not cool with me and that I wanted to take matters in to my own hands!!  I could take my kids’ pictures and make that their back to school milestone picture, but why not do it for everyone . . . well, at least try and spread the love!  So, the back-to-school session was born!!!  It was a huge hit last year . . . and this year is going to be EVEN BETTER!!!

Here are a few pics from the test run . . . along with some info on how you can take advantage of this FREE session . . . yes, you read that right . . . the session is FREE!!!  And the prints are pretty reasonably priced!!!

the evolution of a cupcake | a sweet design

A cupcake has to be just about the most perfect treat . . .

I mean . . . it’s size is perfect . . . the perfect ratio of cake to frosting. 

 

I had the privilege of working with some amazing clients . . . CUPCAKES!!!
A Sweet Design in Granada Hills, California to be exact!!! 
We thought it would be fun to do “an evolution of a cupcake” shot . . .
we should’ve timed it, but I’m pretty sure it didn’t take too long to go from whole cupcake to just the wrapper!!!
